For a different flavour of Marrakesh, head 9km out of the city towards the lush Ourika Valley. Just before the rural village of Sidi Moussa, you’ll find Le Touggana (look out for the cacti), a music-filled, three-in-one haven featuring a sultry stand-alone bar serving fantastic frozen cocktails, a modern Moroccan-style main dining room leading to a plush private garden terrace where you can dine beneath the sun and stay until the stars come out. On top of the firm French base of Le Touggana’s very good menu lie international layers, best exemplified on the ‘globetrotter menu’ of beef carpaccio with pesto and parmesan, seabass fillet curry, and warm chocolate tart. The red wines in particular are worth perusing.
