Within months of opening in the suited-and-booted business district of Paris 8th in early 2008, A La Chataigne felt as if it had been around for decades, buzzing with regulars ordering their favourite plats. Critically acclaimed and considered one of the capital’s best Corsican restaurants, it’s a long, narrow contemporary and clean-lined space where the Mediterranean island is experienced purely on your plate. The food is honest, unpretentious, solidly regional, and particularly strong on fine meats, like wild boar ragout, terrine of starling, and a Corsican take on tripe called tripettes. A La Chataigne servings are generous, and the service charming. The best table, incidentally, is at the front by the window.
