l'Auberge du Bonheur restaurant in Paris' bucolic Bois de Boulogne translates as 'The Inn of Happiness' and it lives up to its name. Set behind the fabulous La Grande Cascade restaurant, this former hunting lodge has a rustic Norman interior with white plastered, half-timbered walls, country seating and details yet white table linens and very smart service. In winter expect a cosy fire in the fireplace, while in summer enjoy the enormous leafy terrace, a true slice of rus in urbe. Chef Franck Birette offers fresh, vibrant traditional French cuisine with innovative touches, like chicken and jumbo shrimp with ch opped garlic and parsley, or roasted lamb shank with slow-roasted mixed veg. Expect to hear more of Birette as he scales the heights. In the meantime, enjoy.
