Autour du Saumon restaurant in Paris is a taste of the clear blue Scandinavian north transported to the centre of town, almost on your way as you stroll from the Ile St Louis into the Marais. This charming, informal corner restaurant is simply decorated in shades of the sea with maritime detailing, letting you know that fish is the focus here. And quelle fish! The freshest possible salmon (and herring and caviare) from the coldest waters presented in every known combination: blinis, salads, carpaccio, tartare, smoked. When noble wild salmon is off the menu for spawning season, lovely organic stuff stands in. Try signature dishes of Nordic tapas followed by assiette of smoked salmon with warm potatoes and seasonal salad washed down with the other speciality of the house: vodka. The usual Russian and Polish varieties are joined by Ukrainian labels and a featured vodka of the month. Delightful sunny terrace.
