Cristina’s Tapas restaurant and traiteur in Paris’ busy 1st arrondissement is a terrific example of the stylish neobistrot trend that’s sweeping the capital. The food is adventurous and accomplished, the ambience relaxed, the white and blond décor stylish and the price easy on the pocket, especially for this part of town between the chi-chi Place Vendome and the elegant Madeleine. The ground floor traiteur and vaulted basement ham cave are for quick bites, while the calm restaurant on the first floor is for proper meals. The menu takes dishes not only from Spain, but also, intriguingly, Greece, Cyprus, Libya and Italy – it all works beautifully. Choose one of the chef’s selections of tapas or enjoy moussaka, cod a la plancha, lamb-stuffed cabbage accompanied by Mediterranean wine.
