Enter the heart of Africa with a table at La Fontaine de Miel, a lively traditional African restaurant in one of chicest parts of Paris, within walking distance of the Pompidou Centre in the fourth arrondissement. Set over two cosy, welcoming floors, La Fontaine De Miel draws a happy crowd of all ages that come to savour the tropical tastes of well-priced traditional African dishes. The house specialties are Congolese and Cameroonian dishes, such as beef ndolé (bitterleaf) and ntaba (braised goat with spices) – watch them being cooked through the open kitchen. Drinks, too, are out of Africa – expect palm wine and Prius, to name just two. Concerts, literary lectures and similarly colourful cultural evenings are frequently held at weekends on the small stage in Restaurant La Fontaine de Miel’s atmospheric arched basement. Suffice to say, La Fontaine de Miel is what you might called a find.
