Le Berkeley restaurant in Paris’ stylish 8th arrondissement has been a jet set restaurant since before jets were invented – and it still is today. Since the 1920’s when iconic personages of politics and showbiz gathered here, like Greta Garbo, the Duchess of Windsor, Jean Cocteau, Le Berkeley has cast its magic spell over generations of stylish high-fliers. The space has been re-imagined as a luxurious English auction house, with deep red palate and stunning original artworks, antique books and tapestries in shades of purple and gold. The ground floor dining room is more romantic, the first floor is grander. Simple, refined and effective cuisine features dishes like beef carpaccio with pesto and Poilane toast, shrimp sautéed with Thai herbs with sautéed baby veg. The jet-set crowd pops in for breakfast, too.
