Les Saveurs de Flora restaurant in the heart of Paris’ Golden Triangle directly opposite the grand Hotel George V is a haven of feminine luxury. A pink palate informs the décor, with retro wallpaper, contemporary furnishings, Venetian sconces, candles, butterflies, aubergine banquettes, and a Renaissance fireplace. It’s a winning departure from the sleek modernity of most new restaurants in the capital. Chef Flora Mikula made quite a name with Les Olivades on the Left Bank, and here exercises all her creativity with a menu that takes classic French dishes of the South, deconstructs them then recreates them for the 21st century, lighter, full of flavour and artfully presented. The menu changes very frequently, and has included dishes like lobster nicoise with petit veg and violet artichokes and tandoori-roasted suckling pig with sweet potato puree and mango lassy. Smiling, professional service, a cosy ambience and a few tables on the terrace on sunny days.
