St Cyr Palace restaurant in Paris, a short walk from the Palais de Congres in Porte Maillot, is devoted to Portuguese cuisine, music, culture and pleasure. The dining room, in tones of passionate red is decorated with walnut leather seating, white table linens, and Portuguese artefacts and artwork, is surrounded by greenery – a veritable garden. The much-lauded cuisine is authentic and innovative ‘New Portuguese’ with dishes like fish soup in the Algarve style, oven-grilled smoked cod with olive oil, peppers and potatoes. And on Thursday evenings, the restaurant blazes with performances of fado, the mysterious, moving songs of the Portuguese soul. Live music in the piano bar most evenings.
