Aigner Restaurant, Berlin: had read previous reviews and had high expectations, but was disappointed by very limited menu and food which was really quite uninspiring.
We had a wonderful meal at Aigner whilst holidaying in Berlin this weekend. The atmosphere was cosy and the rescued furniture from Vienna's Cafe Aigner added to the ambience. Service was friendly and welcoming, with very little wait for our food to arrive. As a vegetarian I was worried about the choice - there were only two starters and one main course to choose from, but the quality and taste more than made up for it!
The staff at Aigner were friendly and helpful. The food was adventurous, tasty and well presented. A great find.
It was great to be welcomed and expected and led to the billard room. The stage was set for a great evening. It was unfortunate that the service via one waiter was a little slow and attention, although warm was lacking for the number of diners.
The food was excellent for some of the diners and for others the meal did not meet expectations.
All in all I would select carefully if I was to go again. The wine was over priced for the quality certainly at the bottom end.
Charming interiors, a superb, prominent location (just off Unten der Linden) and courteous service made for a good dining experience- though not as good as Ebert foodwise. My veal dumplings were disappointing but the starter and pudding were high quality
