The first thing you see is Envy’s open kitchen - brimming with what is clearly top quality food - drawing you in off the central Amsterdam street. You can literally see what’s on the menu. And it looks wonderful. A delicatessen-style restaurant where traditionally-prepared dishes are homemade with love, the table arrangement is cosy, and the dark wood décor uncluttered, Envy fast-footed it to award-winning hotspot status and has stayed there. Creative folk, trendsetters and regulars come to relax over generous, super-fresh side dishes - there’s no traditional menu, so you never eat too much. And nice-natured staff are genuinely knowledgeable about the food and wine, on show alongside cheeses, charcuterie, oysters, jams and chutneys in a ‘wall’ of fridges mounted at eye level. There’s a lot to envy about Envy restaurant.
