RAIN amsterdam is a very trendy glam place and was as good as i imagined it to be but for me the food let it down ONLY because i wasnt as well catered for being a very fussy veggie as my fellow guests were. They all recommended the taster menus and throughly enjoyed their dinner but for me the place came alive when the music started and the place turned into an amazingly fun, vibrant dance bar - well worth a visit for anyone wanting a different type of night in amsterdam
Rain was a very trendy establishment, probably more geared towards a bar than a restuarant. The place was empty (bar 4 people) when we arrived at 8 but when we left at wbout 11 there a queue around the corner to get in. Food was great and would be recommended as a place to have a bite before hitting a club as music was funky. Cocktails were great and very alcoholic!!!
The food was 'fine', but when it's billed as amazing with very chef-y terminology, at high prices, you expect more than 'fine'. Food was a little naive in construction but was tasty, and the aspiration and good intentions were there, just not carried out. Truffle brulee was a good idea but a waste of time. Tuna with pappdum excellent. Good service though. Cost did not balance quality of the food when Amsterdam has so many great cafes & restaurants with v.fresh food for a fraction of the cost.
We found rain lacking any atmosphere. The food was nice but expensive for what you got. might be better for a lunch .
I booked RAIN, Amsterdam for Saturday evening. We arrived at 8.30,it was empty,on a night when every other restuarant was busy.Inside it wasn't what we were expecting. The music was not to our taste, it was very dark & was not a conventional restuarant, more like a club.We spoke to the barman who said it was quiet because they would be open till 4am,people didn't arrive till late.We decided not to eat there and the barman was very helpful ,recommending somewhere more suitable for our age.
