Part of a long row of restaurants lining the Alcantara Docks, where boats rock gently on the tide and tourists wander hand in hand while waiters try to catch their attention, Espalha Brasas is an authentic Portuguese restaurant and undoubtedly the finest of its neighbours. With its relaxed vibe and friendly welcome, plus unmissable views across the dock from the upstairs terrace, the restaurant is pleasantly rustic but sophisticated, candlelit tables dressed in white tablecloths, wait staff stopping to chat with patrons and an ancient looking statue of a male nude watching over the whole scene. Fresh meats and seafood are displayed and grilled to your liking while daily specials are always well worth a look.
