might have been my choice of smoked haddock but it was bad... took us 20 minutes to ask someone to bring the bill

Had a very pleasant, long, lunch at Bar Epernay. Staff allowed us to take our time choosing from the menu and to linger over the food (we had a lot to catch up on so were talking more of the time than eating). The menu isn't cheap - but the food was very nice - and we particularly liked the live piano playing. Great atmosphere.

We visited to Bar Epernay on 29th October and found both food an service to be of a high standard. This is an excellent venue if you want a warm and inviting atmosphere in which to chat over dinner or drinks with friends. I would be happy to recommend this restaurant to others.

Food was lovely and ambience and layout great - live piano nice touch. Big Xmas party made it noisy towards the end of our meal and waitress took far too long to return for payment. Overall very good - price just over £60 for mains, dessert * bottle of wine

Bar Epernay on a Friday night had a pleasant atmosphere, attentive service and mostly excellent food - although the desserts didn't compare in quality to the Starter and the Main Course which were exceptional. Extremely tasty and perfectly cooked. The desserts were dry and uninspiring. Wine was flavoursome too. Would definitely go again but omit the dessert.

Bar Epernay

Bar Epernay is part of one of Birmingham's most exclusive developments, The Mailbox. Perfect, really, when it's target audience is big spenders. It looks as French and sophisticated as it sounds. There's a centrepiece trendy open-flame fire, and cool music, which lunchtimes and evenings emanates live from the revolving grand piano. Bar Epernay serves good, brasserie-style food - lots of fish and seafood like oysters, lobster tail and pan-fried king scallops to accompany a 23-strong champagne offering; four by the glass. There's always a bubbly of the month, such as Moet & Chandon Grand Vintage 2000, £37.50 (usually £55). Vintage champers and non-vintage prices? Chin, chin!
