Dinner at Abstract was pure theatre on a plate! Excellent service, beautifully presented food with real flavour and an exciting menu. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be returning.

Abstract Edinburgh is fantastic for an evening out, esp. a special meal. The 3-course Market Menu for £25 is excellent value - innovative nouvelle cuisine, portions on the smaller side but beautifully presented and intensely flavoured, although sometimes 'one too many ingredients' as Gregg Wallace would say. Enjoyed three lovely intercourses. Contents/cooking process explained by knowledgeable & eager waiters, so an interesting meal. It was rather quiet for a Friday night: credit crunch? Wld rtn

Beautiful surroundings, excellent service and food to match. The three course lunch at Abstract in Edinburgh was good value for such fine dining. I can't wait to try the a la carte menu when I return.

We had a 2-course lunch at Abstract for £12.95. The service was excellent and the food was quite delicious. To start, I had a tartare of tuna with ice cream on top - gorgeous. My wife had a beautifully presented chicken liver pate. For main courses, I had chicken with mushroom ravioli and my wife had salmon confit with pearl barley and parsley plus an almond sliver. .We would heartily recommend the restaurant.

We went to Abstract for Saturday lunch and we were very impressed. The overall experience was so much more than we hoped for considering that the restaurant (surprisingly so) doesnt have a michelin star yet!
We went for a set lunch menu and every dish was gorgeous - very tasty with an excellent presentation. The wine list was impressive too.
The staff were very knowledgable, attentive and friendly.
The venue is situated right by Edinburgh castle.Very romantic.
We will surely be coming back.

Relaxed surroundings with professional helpful staff. We chose the 7 course taster meal with a different wine per course,a great gastronomical and wine experience.Howver I woudn''t have chosen some of the wines but they all complemented each course. One could also opt for the offers and a la carte menus as well.Would definitely rebook if back in Edinburgh -pricewise expensive so the deals are a good option.

Riding confidently on the success of its Inverness sibling who rose to fame in Riding confidently on the success of its Inverness sibling who rose to fame in Channel 4’s Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, Abstract serves a slice of ritz on Edinburgh’s Castle Terrace. A striking piano bar leads to a monochrome dining room where you can almost smell the money spent on - and in -the place. Head Chef Sean Kelly, puts out genuinely exciting Modern French food, best sampled from the eight-course tasting menu. To start try the Scottish scallops with warm ham hock and follow it with the Gressingham duck, roast breast, Toulouse sausage, peas, cannellini beans – simply delicious Slick service from a glamorous, predominantly French staff.
