very pleasent experience
Malmaison - Fine dining at reasonable prices. Need I say anymore?
The brasserie at Malmaison has a lovely atmosphere, though we felt like the only ones talking at times on this Sunday evening. We tried the set menu which was lovely, if not plentiful, but I think it represents a good deal. We will try the a la carte next time though. The staff were lovely when we saw them, but not always there when we needed them (We gave up and got our own coats in the end). Always there when trying to sell us drink though; where is the mark up I wonder? A nice evening.
I booked the meal for a birthday celebration, just the two of us.We have been here before and our latest visit again lived up to our expetations in evey way. The food, service and ambience were excellent. and the personnal service of your staff, even remembering our names, gave our evening that final touch of quality
We had the set menu which promoted local produce. Very good value for money and highly recommended.
The only minor issue and it was truley minor was the lighting was a bit dark, other then that we had a fantastic time.
Malmaison Edinburgh is cosy and dimly but nicely lit. Very smart and clean. Cullen Skink was creamy and delicious. Good nicely presented haggis. Venison faggots great with a rich alcoholic gravy. Finished off with a lovely lemon tart. All food was cooked to a high quality. I can't knock the standard of service as all staff very competent, but at times they may have crossed the line between friendly and intrusive/over-familiar. Was half-expecting 'I'm your actor-waiter'! Will def return however
