A very enjoyable, relaxing place to eat how however, not very traditionally Scottish I think it is just listed as a Scottish restaurant as it is in Scotland. Having said that I would still recommend this as the food was very good.
Excellent meal and very efficient service at Red Onion in Glasgow. Very pleasant helpful staff and very good choice of menu at reasonable prices for the quality
The ambience at Red Onion is lovely - open fire & warm lighting. We sat in a booth upstairs which was cosy but which made it difficult to attract the waiter's attention. Service was OK but a bit matter of fact. Lovely squid salad starter, very good burger, but not sure about the cocktail onions in the chicken chasseur. Wine by the glass wasn't great - tasted a bit cheap. All in all a lovely place to spend an evening. Better wine and more elegant service would have made it perfect.
Red Onion, Glasgow. Food and service fantastic and the surroundings and ambience are fabulous. Will be back to dine and will recommend.
Red onion in Glasgow was highly recommended by friends, I'm not sure if this raised my expectations a little to highly. The service was good and my Grilled sea bass was very good however the Char grilled sirloin steak ordered was certainly not the best I have ever tasted (Not the worst but I expected better) my over all rating of this visit would by an averege 5 (I'm not sure if I would visit again)
We enjoyed a very nice dinner in The Red Onion in Glasgow on a Friday night. The ambience of the restauarant is lovely with lots of candles and an open fire - would be a bit warm if you were at the table in front of the fire. The service was a bit slow to start with but we weren't in any hurry. The wine list is pretty restrictedl; not many budget options. Starters were very good, mains were fine although the duck could have been hotter; desserts were fab. Overall a very pleasant evening.
lunchtime on a Monday - fishcakes starter excellent quality and quantity (well beyound the standard 2 round dollops) and main of grilled chicken and bacon salad also very tasty. will use again.
