The food is very good value at £19 for 3 courses however they make up for it on the wine. A really nice evening but don't assume it is going to be cheap!
Dire. We ate on the toptable deal. My camembert tart was beyond disappointing. Next to no camembert, a runny, watery centre, with cubes of raw apple surrounding the plate mixed in with the sauteed wild mushrooms - it just didnt work. On top of this, the service was unreliable. Our wine glasses were left empty for minutes at a time, although we had a bottle of champagne standing nearby. There was no bread...and no apology for this either...Will not be going back.
We enjoyed our meal at Coq D'argent. The deal was good value for money, however the staff were quite pushy to sell us the extras and this made us feel guilty about taking up the offer. Drinks are extremely pricy here. My partners main course was good, although very small for a hungry British man. My main course (the baked Camenbert) was extremely salty, so I gave it to my hungry partner...
Coq D'Argent is a very smart restaurant, lively with very good service - although they seemed a bit understaffed at the bar - we had to wait around 15 minutes to be served. Cocktails were great. The set menu was good value and the food was delicious.
Coq D'argent was perfect for a relaxing Sunday lunch on Mother's day. They advertised 'Jazz' lunch and i thinkl the jazz band could of been a bit more prominent, they were stuck in teh corner of the bar and you couldn't even hear them once at your table. But that aside, food was excellent, an extensive set menu for Sunday lunch. The pumkin and goats cheese risotto was superb and the 28 day aged rib eye beef melted in my mouth. All in all an excellent Mother's Day lunch.
