The small restaurant downstairs at Vivat Bacchus was fairly quiet with a small birthday party and a few business men. Soup and rissotto were very nice and lamb good although I felt the quality of my steak was not fantastic even if well cooked. Pudding of apple crumble was good. whilst the food was reasonable value the wine was less so. The waiter initially suggested one at £45 a bottle. Settling for one at £35 I felt the quality was good but not exceptional.

Vivat Bacchus is ok for a work lunch - good set menu and fabulous wine cellar

Vivat Bacchus was having a challenging day with the toilets out of action in the basement and then a power cut. We still had a good time & the staff certainly deserve a pat on the back for coping - showing the cheese room by torch light !

We actually showed up at the wrong site, but the staff were very accomodating and found us a table, which saved us a hassle of finding somewhere else to eat, choice of wines is excellent and we shared a cheese and meat platter which was also delish!

Superb. Absolutely superb dining experience and especially so as we took our customers there and they thoroughly enjoyed their lunch. The food was perfect and the wine was absolutely sublime. The only point that let them down was that we had to wait for a fairly substantial period of time for our coffees. Until that point, the service was impeccable. I enjoyed it so thoroughly that I plan to investigate their dinner engagements! Highly Recommended.

Vivat Bacchus, with Smithfields meat market on it's doorstep had on offer some of the best quality meat I've ever tasted! The food in fact was pretty damned good all round. However, with over attentive and snooty waiting staff and little in the way of atmosphere, it wasn't as I might have expected considering the size of the bill. Nice wine list though.
