Chaophraya was booked for 18, and whilst food was decent, the service and unfathomably inflexible policies left a bitter taste. Guests were forbidded from taking their half-finished happy hour drinks to the dining area, which left some waiting at the table for others to hurriedly down drinks before food can be brought out. This, when placed in context of a 2 hour time limit (15 minutes before which we were made to 'relocate' despite several vacant tables) made the atmosphere less than relaxed.
Had lunch here yeaterday food was delicious, great selection of wines and service excellent. Very reasonable too. Will definitely return on next visit to Manchester.
Chaophraya denied having received our booking from Toptable - disconcerting as we were celebrating our daughter's 21st birthday! Staff were offhand. My sizzling platter was not sizzling at all and when I sent it back, it was returned so sizzling that it spattered onto our clothes - were they trying to make a point? Otherwise we enjoyed the food which was very tasty and the atmosphere was good (Tues). Make sure you don't pay the service charge twice - the way the bill is itemised is misleading.
Chaophraya-Mnachester is an amazing restaurant, this is our second visit and just as good as the first, everything 1st class. They also do a great version of Happy Birthday-Thai style for anyone who has a birthday, tell them before hand and that person gets suprise birthday cake and a Thai version of Happy Birthday.. A nice touch and fun. Please try out Chaophraya for yourself and i promise you wont be disappointed.
I have eaten at Chaophraya a few times and have never had a bad meal, although i think the soups have a little bit too much lemaongrass in them (the ones i've tried)
the staff are always friendly and helpfull
would recommend them any time
