Market Restaurant, at the core of Manchester’s groovy Northern Quarter scene, was an early pioneer of this exciting area and now one of its keystones. Small and friendly, cosy, homely and reasonably-priced it may be, but chef Mary-Rose Edgecombe is serious about local, seasonal sourcing and just... Read more

This is a review of the dinner my wife and I had at the Market Restaurant on Saturday October 4. Service was poor and slow - we were only offered a choice of wine after being given the starter and the waiter seemed intent on chatting to other guests while serving us. My food was very average and £2.50 for 6 boiled new potatoes is rather steep. My wife said her food, however, was very good. There is little space which means that you cannot hear yourself speak if seated next to a noisy table.
Our experience at the Market Restaurant was pretty much perfect. I had a pork dish which was absolutely amazing and my 6 friends all enjoyed their meals a lot. I would highly recommend a visit.
a good evening with great food and pleasant service. I would recommend anyone to try this cosy little Gem!
The Market restaurant had a lovely feel to it and a warm, friendly atmosphere. The service was excellent - attentive but not intrusive. My girlfriend had an excellent fish cake followed by a very well prepared duck. My blue cheese salad to start was delicious but slightly on the small side for the price... my salmon main was lovely however. A lovely restaurant, especially for couples, only marginally more expensive than perhaps it should be.
Great Mother's Day lunch at The Market. They very hospitalbly dealt with a change of circumstance on very short notice, although getting the bill seemed to cause as little confusion...
