MC Cafe Bar is great for a quick meal before a night out. The portions are on the small side but the food is good so ideal for a light meal. The £25 deal is very good value as the bottle of wine (certainly the red) is actually quite good!
Had a really lovely meal, the cafe bar has a really relaxed atmosphere, the food was very good, we ate off the menu which gave 2 people 2 courses and a bottle of wine for £25 which was a bargain!! I had the black pudding, which was lovely, if not a bit hard to eat out of a bowl, and the Lamb for mains which was perfectly cooked, but had no potatoes or veg served with it. Overall really good food, small portions but great value for what you get.
MC Cafe a nice place a to dine, ditto other comments about smallish portions (sticky toffee pudding should have been labelled 'bite sized') but nothing wrong with quality or service. Can always get a bag o' chips on way home.
The MC Cafe Bar (attached to the ABode Hotel) is a great place! Surprisingly quiet considering the great meal we had. We were expertly looked after by Mel and the Manager. Food was great, portions were slightly small, but 2 of us had 2 courses each and a bottle of wine for £25.00 so we can't complain!! As in previous reviews lamb shank was excellent, but could do with a bit more veg! Wine great (especially considering some of the awful promo stuff you get!) Service great, really enjoyed.
Our booking at MC Cafe hadn't come through but they found us a table. Food was very good quality but they seemed to have run out of a lot of dishes and we had to ask for them to do replacement dishes on the set menu. 2 courses for £25 deal (for 2 people) is good value for money but portions are very small. Not somewhere to go for a romantic meal in terms of atmosphere - felt like a cafe, quite informal. Not as good as City Cafe in City Inn opposite. Champagne bar downstairs is very nice though.
